So, I had my first bacon wrapped hot dog after the 2nd day of Anime Expo 2009 outside the Los Angeles Convention Center (totally forgot to take a picture). It was really good, but it was a little lacking on the veggies. As I was eating, I figured I could do this at home if I ever had a bacon wrapped hot dog craving and alas, I did.
So, I looked through the freezer and I found a pack of Hebrew National Hot Dogs and of course 8 packs of bacon, which I defrosted and wrapped.
Now, you might be thinking, "why inthe world do you have THAT much bacon in your freezer?!" Well, you would have to talk to my dad about that who LOVES buying bacon for some reason. We do not eat it that often (obviously) but he buys it thinking that it will get cooked. I dump it into the freezer, he sees it is gone, and buys more. It is a sad bacon cycle...too much to consume.
How to cook them? Well, I used the George Foreman Grill, but you can use a pan or the broiler or anything else that helps crisp the bacon. I just like that grill because all the fat renders away from the meat. In a pan or broiler, it just kind of swims in the oil and looks pretty unappetizing.
After, I sauteed some onions to dress the dogs.
Very simple to make, but I ate only one and one pack makes 7. This seriously needs to be shared with a group of people.
This makes me want to throw a street foods party. Make street food and share. That sounds like so much fun! Who is in?!
